Introduction:

Gynaecologic Oncology (Gynae-oncology) is a specialized field in medicine which focuses in the management of cancers of female reproductive organs. Gynaecological cancers include the cancers of cervix, uterus, ovary, vagina, vulva and trophoblastic diseases. A specialist in Gynae-oncology requires to undertake formal training in the field of gynaecological oncology and acquire special expertise in the field including broad-based knowledge in related disciplines such as medical oncology, radiation oncology, gynaecological pathology and palliative management of patients suffering from gynaecological cancers. This academic training in Gynecological oncology is to bridge the knowledge and skill gap prevalent in the management of respective cancers in the context of Nepal.
