Admission procedure of Institute of Medicine Nepal in 2022-23

Every year, more than 4,000 students enroll in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), Nepal. The institute has a highly competitive admission process, and only the top students are accepted into the programs.

The IOM offers a six-year MBBS program, a three-year BSc program in Nursing, and a two-year BSc program in Public Health. The institute also offers postgraduate programs in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

To be eligible for the MBBS program, students must have completed high school with at least 50% marks in Science and Mathematics. For the BSc programs, students must have completed high school with at least 45% marks in Science and Mathematics.


The admission process for the MBBS program includes a written entrance exam, followed by an interview and a medical examination. The written entrance exam is conducted by the Nepal Medical Council. The interview and medical examination are conducted by a panel of doctors from the IOM.

Only the top students are accepted into the MBBS program. The institute has a quota of 100 students for the MBBS program.

The admission process for the BSc programs is similar to the MBBS program. However, there is no quota for the BSc programs.


Students who are not Nepali citizens can also apply for admission to the IOM. However, they must submit a copy of their passport and visa, and they must pass the entrance exam.
