Eligibility for admission to B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences:
The following conditions and criterion must be met by the willing candidate for acceptance into B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for the MBBS degree.
The Medical Councils of Nepal, India and Sri Lanka have recognised this institution duly and has acknowledged its genuineness in the field of medical studies. :
- The candidate must have completed their 17 years of age.
- They must have passed their 10+2 standard or Intermediate of Science (I.Sc) with English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry and their major subjects and must not have less than 50% marks in the average aggregate calculated on the basis of these major subjects.
OR
Have completed a bachelor’s degree in any of the subjects: Physics, Chemistry or Biology (B.Sc) from a recognised University, and has studied one other science subject till the ancillary level , with not less than a 50% aggregate and meets the above condition and aggregate requirements of the 10+2 standard.
- Resident Nepali students have to take the BPIKHS entrance exam, which is considered to be the determinant of merit for admission to this university. Students who are applying from foreign countries and Non Resident Nepali students will have to forward their application to the college for perusal and acceptance of their admission to B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. Such documents will be needed to get authorized from the Ministry of External Affairs of the student’s resident country and by the Embassy of Nepal.

The duration of this course in B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences is 5½ years which includes the Compulsory Community Oriented Rotational Internship/Training.
The number of seats reserved for this course is One Hundred (100).
B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences teaches basic medical sciences with development in interdepartmental integration and clinical and community correlation for the first two academic years.
Clinical subjects, community medicine and forensic medicine have been arranged to be studied during the next one and a half year from the third academic year onwards, while all the clinical subjects along with management in health, community field experience and junior clinical clerkship continue until the end of the four and a half year of the MBBS curriculum of B.P.Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
The course starts from the month of September every year.
At the end of the 4½ years of medical degree, the student must complete a year of service based internship.
The course fee sums up to about 38 lac INR on an average.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS):
This is a 4½ year course with one year of compulsory internship after the final examinations.
The candidates eligible for admission should have (both national and international applicants):
- Passed 10+2 Science (Biology Group) or Equivalent securing at least 50% separately in
Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% aggregate in total marks OR
Secured at least C+ grade separately in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least C
grade in remaining individual subjects along with GPA 2.4 OR
Secured the Percentage equivalent to above eligibility in regards to the certificate level
programs (A-Level) with different grading system
OR
2. Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level /Diploma
(General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science,
Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Physiotherapy) with Certificate of Equivalence to
Grade 12 Science program from National Examination Board AND
3. Secured at least 50% separately in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% aggregate
in total marks both in Diploma and the Examination for Equivalence AND
4. Registered in Nepal Health Professional council or Nepal Pharmacy Council or Nepal
Ayurveda Council as per related educational program.
The course fee for this program is about 20lac INR.
