The BDS curriculum in Nepal involves four and a half years of full-time study followed by a year of mandatory rotating internship. Seven dental colleges in Nepal provide a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme with Tribhuvan University affiliation.
There are three primary components to the curriculum.
- Basic medical science that is integrated
- Medical Science in Clinical Practice
- Dental Science in Clinical Practice
During the first two years of the BDS curriculum in Nepal, students will learn dental material science, community dentistry, and pre-clinical laboratory procedures.
Students will be exposed to clinical dentistry in the third and fourth years of BDS in Nepal, which deals with numerous dental health concerns from an essential standpoint.

After completing the four-and-a-half-year BDS programme in Nepal, the dental graduate should be able to: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the principles and practise of modern dentistry, as well as an in-depth understanding of the structure and functions of the human body in both normal and disease states.
Develop a holistic approach to modern dentistry practise.
Through higher education, such as continuing dental education programmes and research, one can improve one’s own knowledge and skills.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of current concepts and techniques.
Possess the characteristics of a compassionate and socially responsible person.
Carry out job obligations with care and concern.
By yourself, provide immediate management care in life-threatening situations.
Identify common dental health concerns, treat them early, seek advice from seniors, and, if necessary, refer to relevant health institutions.
People should be educated about oral health and other health-related issues.
Participate in immunisation, dental health, and health camp activities.Explain matters known to the patient and patient’s relatives and refer them to suitable persons when matters are not clear to self.
Provide the patient and his or her relatives with all pertinent information regarding patient treatment.
Identify medical and legal dental cases and perform as needed.
Develop a dental health-care team approach and treat all team members with respect.
Children, the elderly, and women should all be treated with respect.
By becoming aware of the ethos of dental ethics, you may provide dental health care.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma (General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Ph.D.) with 50 percent aggregate in total marks or CGPA 2.4 OR Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma (General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Ph.D.) with Secured at least 50% aggregate in total marks both in Diploma and the Examination for equivalence AND
Registered in Nepal Health Professional council or Nepal Pharmacy Council or Nepal Ayurveda Councils per related educational program.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
Admissions Process Provisions
To pass the integrated admissions procedure, a minimum of 50% of the marks must be acquired.
There will be no deductions for incorrect responses.
At the time of admission, candidates who have been successfully selected in the admission procedure must present the original and 1/1 copies of the following papers to the respective educational institution.
10+2 and SLC/SEE or Equivalent certificate of qualification, transcript, and character certificate
A copy of your citizenship / passport is required.
The Entrance Examination’s admit card.
Reservation documents have been submitted.
For students who have received certificates from other universities, a Certificate of Equivalence is required.
*Foreign candidates who wish to study in the vacated seat for international students must complete the online application form and specify the academic programme of their choosing within the time frame specified in this announcement.
Scholarships provisions
According to Rule 20 of the National Medical Education Rules, 2077, 55 percent of the total scholarship seats to be provided to the Government of Nepal at the undergraduate level will be distributed through open competition, and 45 percent will be distributed based on the following criteria:
