People’s Dental College was founded in 1997 and is affiliated with Nepal’s Tribhuvan University. The Nepal Medical Council and the World Health Organization have given it their approval for BDS courses in Nepal.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS):

This is a 4.5-year programme with a one-year mandatory internship following the final exams. The BDS programme is accredited by the Nepal Medical Council and is affiliated with Tribhuvan University.

Part I: Basic Medical Sciences and Dental Science courses are taught for the first two years, and Part II: Dental Clinical Sciences subjects, including community dentistry/Medical Clinical Sciences subjects is taught for the remaining two years. If a student does not receive a passing grade in Part I, he or she will not be advanced to Part II.

Candidates should have the following qualifications in order to be considered for admission: (both national and international applicants):

1. Passed 10+2 Science (Biology Group) or Equivalent with at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with at least 50% in total marks OR received at least C+ in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with at least C+ in total marksa 2.4 GPA in the remaining individual subjects AND a grade in the remaining individual subjects OR a 2.4 GPA in the remaining individual subjects AND a grade in the remaining individual subjects In relation to certificate level programmes (A-Level) with different grading systems, secured the percentage equivalent to above eligibility OR

1. Applicants who have completed the Level /Diploma in Health Science Proficiency

(Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, General Medicine)

Certificates of Equivalence to Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, and Physiotherapy

THE NATIONAL EXAMINATION BOARD’S GRADE 12 SCIENCE PROGRAM AND

Secured at least 50% separately in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% aggregate

1. Registered in Nepal Health Professional Council, Nepal Pharmacy Council, or Nepal Ayurveda Council as per related educational programme in total marks both in diploma and examination for equivalence.

The usual course fee varies depending on the country of origin of the student, however it roughly equals 15-30 lac INR.

Master of Dental Surgery (MDS):

It is a three-year programme that requires the individual to have completed a BDS from a recognised institution. They must also have completed a year of internship as required by Nepal’s Medical Council.

The cost of the course is approximately 12-15 lac INR.
