Situated at the city of Patan, nearĀ  Kathmandu, lead by Dr.Rajesh NathGongal, the vice Chancellor , Patan Academy of Health Sciences is a government recognized school for the study of medicine in Nepal. It is based on the constitution’s proposed charter and has its own article, the Patan Academy of Health Sciences Act.

Eligibility for admission to Patan Academy of Health Sciences:

The willing candidate must meet the following prerequisites and criteria in order to be accepted into Patan Academy of Health Sciences for the MBBS degree in Nepal. These requirements were established in accordance with the Kathmandu University’s rigorous rules:

The candidate must have reached the age of seventeen.

They must have completed their 10+2 or Intermediate of Science (I.Sc) with English, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as their major courses, with a minimum of 50% in the average aggregate calculated using these major subjects.

OR

Have earned a bachelor’s degree in one of the following science disciplines (B.Sc) from a recognised university, and have studied one other science subject until the ancillary level, with a minimum aggregate of 50%, and meet the above criterion and aggregate requirements of the 10+2 standard.

Residents of Nepal must take the KUMET/KUSMS exam, which is used to determine merit for admission to this college, followed by an interview at the PAHS, which is self-funded.Non-resident Nepali students and students from other countries must submit their applications to the college for review and acceptance of their admission to Patan Academy of Health Sciences. Such documents will need to be approved by the student’s home country’s Ministry of External Affairs as well as the Nepalese Embassy.

MBBS: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

For MBBS candidates, Patan Academy of Health Sciences offers a four-and-a-half-year programme with a mandatory community-based internship. For the first two academic years, it concentrates on basic medical sciences, with an emphasis on interdepartmental integration and clinical and community linkage.

Clinical subjects, community medicine, and forensic medicine will be studied during the next one and a half years beginning in the third academic yearonwards, while all clinical subjects, as well as health management, community field experience, and junior clinical clerkship, continue till the end of Kathmandu University’s four-and-a-half-year MBBS curriculum.

Every year, the course begins in the months of August and September.
