Eligibility for studying MBBS and BDS in Nepal:

Eligibility for admission into MBBS COURSE IN NEPAL:

These standards have been set following the strict guidelines of Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University and the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal:

  1. The candidate must have completed their 17 years of age.
  2. They must have passed their 10+2 standard or Intermediate of Science (I.Sc) with English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry and their major subjects and must not have less than 50% marks in the average aggregate calculated on the basis of these major subjects.

OR

  • Resident Nepali students have to take the KUMET/KUSMS/TU-IOM exam, which is considered to be the determinant of merit for admission to these colleges in Nepal. Students who are applying from foreign countries and Non Resident Nepali students will have to forward their application to the college for perusal and acceptance of their admission into the medical colleges of Nepal for authorization and verification. Such documents will be needed to get authorized from the Ministry of External Affairs of the student’s resident country and by the Embassy of Nepal. After successful completion of these documents , especially the birth certificate and the passport of the applicant, a verification pass is issued which is then cross checked by embassies of both countries and the student has to now apply with the other willing candidates with academic documents and scores of the entrance exam they have taken in their country (for eg: NEET scores for Indian students).

This eligibility criterion might vary a tad bit for different universities in Nepal: Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and the Patan Academy of Health Sciences regarding the procedure post admission. However the former guidelines and academic qualifications are all a necessity as stated by the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal.
