On October 18, 1992, the then-His Majesty’s Government of Nepal and the Manipal Education and Medical Group signed a historic deal to establish a medical college in Nepal.

In 1994, the Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), which is associated with Kathmandu University and offers an MBBS curriculum in Nepal, was established in Pokhara. In Nepal, it was the first private institution to open a private medical college in Nepal. In addition, in 1998, the 750-bed Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH) in Pokhara opened. Modern facilities for modern medical education in Nepal and health care have been established at the medical college in Nepal and hospital.

INVESTMENT MADE BY THE MANIPAL EDUCATION & MEDICAL GROUP:

The Manipal Group has invested a total of INR 40 billion in MCOMS since its founding, with the amount increasing year after year to ensure the institution’s sustained growth.

Manipal University is a combination of educational institutions and hospitals with over 300,000 students and 7,000 hospital beds that has built a solid reputation over the previous five decades.

In addition to providing direct employment to a lot of locals, the venture has aided Nepal’s general growth in medical education in Nepal.

A significant success in the realm of medical education in Nepal is the absence of a capitation fee.On Campus – International Students and Faculty Members – Because of the global teaching standards used at MCOMS, the college has attracted international students since its establishment, and the number is growing every year. International faculty members have also been attracted to the college.

After completing the international medical licensure tests, such as the USMLE and PLAB, with scores of up to 99 percent, a considerable number of graduates are placed at various important international health care organisations. Fee structure for MCOMS Nepal is a minimal fee structure as compared to other medical colleges in Nepal and India. The fee structure at MCOMS Nepal is flexible enough to allow payment through instalments . It also provides medical scholarships in MCOMS Nepal to students from low background who cannot afford the MCOMS Nepal tuition fee.
