You Need to Know about NEET and MBBS in 2023

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) are two of the most important medical qualifications in India.

NEET is the only medical entrance exam conducted in India and is required for admission to medical colleges.

MBBS is the undergraduate medical degree program, which is a prerequisite for practising medicine.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)

NEET is the sole entrance exam for admission in the medical colleges of India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year in the month of May.

The exam is conducted for admission to medical colleges for MBBS, BDS and other medical courses.

The exam is conducted in two phases – the first phase is held in the month of May and the second phase is held in the month of November.

The syllabus of the NEET exam is based on the syllabus prescribed by the Medical Council of India.

It covers topics such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Zoology.

The exam tests the knowledge and understanding of the student in these topics. The duration of the exam is three hours and it consists of 180 multiple-choice questions.

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery)

The MBBS course is a four-year program, which includes one year of internship. During the course, students learn about anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, biochemistry and other medical topics.

The course also includes lectures, seminars, clinical postings and practicals. The final MBBS exam is conducted by the respective state medical council.

Both NEET and MBBS are important qualifications for a career in medicine. While NEET is the only entrance exam for admission to medical colleges, MBBS is the undergraduate medical degree program.
