The Kathmandu University is located in Dhulikhel, Kaveripalanchok District, 30 kilometres east of Kathmandu.

In Dhulikhel (main campus), Patan, Lalitput, and Bhaktapur, it contains seven schools and four campuses.

It was founded in 1991 with the tagline “Quality Leadership Education.” The chancellor of this public university is Nepal’s Prime Minister, while the pro-chancellor is Nepal’s Minister of Education. The Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University is Mr. BholaThapa.

Semesters are used at Kathmandu University. The bachelor’s degree is four years long, with the exception of three-year B.A./B.Sc. programmes, while the master’s degree is two years long and M.Phil programmes are a year and a half long. All degrees are based on studies conducted in an English-medium interface.

Eligibility for admission into the Medical Sciences School of Kathmandu University Nepal :

The following conditions and criterion must be met by the willing candidate for acceptance into Kathmandu University of Medical Sciences :

  1. The candidate must have completed their 17 years of age.

2. They must have completed their 10+2 standard or Intermediate of Science (I.Sc) with English, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as major subjects, with a minimum of 50% in the average aggregate calculated using these major subjects.OR Have earned a bachelor’s degree in any of the following science disciplines (B.Sc) from a recognised university, and have studied at least one additional science subject until auxiliary level, with a minimum of a 50% aggregate, and meet the preceding criterion and aggregate requirements of the 10+2 standard.

  •  Nepali students who live in Nepal must take the KUMET/KUSMS exam, which is used to determine merit for admission to this college. Non-resident Nepali students and students from other countries must submit their applications to the college for review and acceptance of their admission to Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences. Such documents will need to be approved by the student’s home country’s Ministry of External Affairs as well as the Nepalese Embassy.

MBBS: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

To prepare young aspiring medical professionals and would-be professionals for a career in the field of healthcare, Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences uses a learner-centered, methodical, and elective-based approach.

The junior clinical clerkship and internship lasts till the end of Kathmandu University’s five-and-a-half-year MBBS programme.

Every year, the course begins in the month of August.

Seventy-five seats have been reserved for this programme (75).

Additional elective/optional courses are offered as part of the MBBS programme at Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences to meet students’ research interests and allow them to conduct independent research under the supervision of selected mentors in order to advance the society’s healthcare advancements.

The fee structure is divided into many slabs based on the number of students in each slab:

  1. Non resident Nepali students
  2. Students from SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka only)
  3. Indian Students (citizens of India)
  4. Students from other countries.

However, the average course fee sums up to about 37lac INR.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS):

This is a 412-year programme that includes two years of clinical and paraclinical coursework and two and a half years of clinical coursework.

The courses and internship are totally based on Tribhuvan University and Nepal Medical Council rules, and strictly follow the Part I, Part II structure of the same.

The following are the requirements for entrance to this course: (This applies to both domestic and overseas applicants)

Candidates should have the following qualifications in order to be considered for admission: (both national and international applicants):

  1. Passed 10+2 Science (Biology Group) or Equivalent securing at least 50% separately in
  2. OR a 50 percent aggregate in total marks in physics, chemistry, and biology OR
  3. At least a C+ in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as a C in the remaining individual disciplines and a GPA of 2.4 OR
  4. In terms of certificate level, I received the Percentage comparable to above eligibility.
  5. programmes with a distinct grading system (A-Level)

OR

  1. Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level /Diploma

(General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, and Physiotherapy) with a National Examination Board Certificate of Equivalence to a Grade 12 Science programme AND Secured at least 50% separately in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% aggregate

in total marks both in Diploma and the Examination for Equivalence AND

Registered in Nepal Health Professional council or Nepal Pharmacy Council or Nepal
